Introduction to the Language Lab

I hope and expect that everyone who accesses this simple blog will benefit from easy access to review sound recordings from our language learning sessions.  I will use this posterous forum for now, but at some time in the future I may let you know about the creation of my own blog or website.

My plan for this blog includes the following:

1. I will post sound recordings from the Spanish classes that I teach. Since the recordings are generally less than 5 minutes each, I recommend that my students listen to them one to three times per day, everyday, and that they engage in listening by using the picture page from class. If time allows for me to post additional recordings outside of class and perhaps by native speaker friends of mine, I will also post those.

2. I hope to post sound recordings from Arabic sessions with a friend if we are able to start meeting soon.

3. I may post other sound recordings from language learning sessions and tutoring sessions as opportunities arise in the future.

4. I plan to save and label all recordings in such a way that they are easily and quickly accessible, in case students want to go back to review certain topics or otherwise find a recording.  YOU CAN TYPE A KEY WORD INTO THE SEARCH ENGINE TO FIND THE RECORDING, LIKE "Spanish" or "Spanish Fruit" or "Futura" or "October 14."

5. I hope to post my thoughts about language learning and teaching and thoughts from my work on my thesis on Applied Linguistics for graduate school.

6. More? I'm sure other topics related to language learning and teaching and linguistic study will come up along the way and I welcome comments and ideas!
